Marlin loading gate
« on: May 27, 2006, 10:05:51 PM »
I have a new Marlin 1895 Guide Gun in 45/70. When loading, the first round goes in easily, but after that the loading gate doesn't want to open. When  pressing on the loading gate with the nose of another cartridge, it is hard to get the gate to open. Seems to get hung up on the rim of the previous cartridge. It will work with a bit of jigglin', but I also have an 1894 in 44 Mag and a 336 in 30/30, and have not had this problem before. Is it caliber specific or is something wrong with the gate?
Thanks.

Try pushing the round in the magazine a bit further into the mag. Sounds like the stop isn't catching it.
