Position Description:



The Division of Wildlife Conservation is recruiting for the position of Range Manager (classified as a Fish & Wildlife Technician V) for the Rabbit Creek Shooting Park in Anchorage. We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to join our staff.

The Rabbit Creek Shooting Park operates Wednesday – Sunday, providing multiple ranges designed for handguns, rifles, shotguns and archers. Over 22,000 shooter visits are recorded each year. The park also offers a venue for hunter education instruction.  The Shooting Park is an outdoor facility, operating 11 months a year.

This position is a vital member of the Hunter Information and Training (HIT) team. The position is supervised by the Statewide Program Coordinator for the HIT program. Duties for Range Manager position include the following:

Insure firearm safety protocols for patrons of the park.
Lead and evaluate the work of 3 – 4 paid staff members.
Prepare work schedules for staff.
Budget manager for operational expenditures.
Supervise cash handling and revenue accounting.
Direct and complete maintenance projects for the Shooting Park facility and equipment.
Coordinate activities and develop community partnerships with shooting groups and clubs.
Promote Shooting Park activities to the general public.
Recruit volunteer range safety officers.
