Did you work up to that load in your new gun?  It's never a good idea to just load the max load listed in the manual.  Just my 2 cents.

That is a hot load for even a Contender, I would work up slowly with a new revolver. Sounds like agreat back-up. I have been looking into the same kind of thing. I love my Contender, but a 6 shot seems a lot more realistic for my needs these days. Hunting pistols are fine, but I am thinking more along the line of self defence and Home-land security.  P.J. now you need to look into some molds. 44's are real cheap to make your own.  I am still in the beginning stages, making them one at a time with a torch, but they sure work great.

Yep,I loaded up some others as well just to be safe started at 20grs and went up to the 24grs.It shot best at 22.4grs of H110.It also liked 20grs of 2400 as well.Nice gun should be a blast for deer and bear and just about anything I need to hunt.

You dont have ANY need for such an inferior firearm.  Hell, I'll trade you a 375 JDJ barrel for it.

I have the same gun It is the only revolver I have that is scoped and it is very accurate. My favorite bullets in it so far are the 340lfngc ballistic cast mold and the 300 kieth lyman gc mold.
