dougk,
I have personally found that it is easiest to get a consistant grip with revolvers when the grip has finger grooves. As with all handguns consistancy of grip will do more to promote accuracy than most other modifications to the weapon. If your grip is lower the gun will shoot high and if it is higher it will shoot low even with a scope and the same sight picture.
This is my personal experience and I can't say what others have found to work for them.

What kind of .44 mag is it? If it's a single action, I'd say you're doing great with the micarta grips. If it's a double action, I'd go with the Hogue Soft Rubber Monogrips.

That's a very business like knife and gun.  If I were a deer or bear, I'd take that combo VERY seriously! :D

Doug,
I have an identical looking grip on my Ruger 357 mag.
It always rests in my hand the same which makes small groups a lot easier to make even smaller.

Hey Doug,
Is that a Dan Wesson?  That is a nice piece ya got there.  That grip should help in taming the recoil.  Good luck.  ;)

Larry,
that is a Dan Wesson.  The grip is great but I have not shot the gun with the grip.  As soon as our 11 week old daughter gets to 12 weeks  :D Im going out back and shooting both guns.  However I will have to admit that the Dan Wessons are very tame to begin with.

Do I understand that you are planning to shoot your 11 week old daughter as soon as she turns 12 weeks?!  Boy, you are one tough disciplinarian!! :D

Best grips? It depends on the gun and what your idea of "best" is. If you're looking for cosmetically beautiful grips, there are a lot of options. If you want functional, also consider Pachmayr grips. I like the Hogues on a S&W 629, but I like the Pachmayrs on some other guns.

I have found that a good wood grip will tame recoi.  I have a nice set of Nill Grips on my 629 S&W and it is one of my primary hunting handguns.  Check it out:

If you notice closely, the wood grips are completely wrapped around the grip frame.  I believe that this evenly distributes the recoil force around the grip.  Just my thoughts and observations.      ;)
