Dont overlook newer parks and Rec areas

They may not yield old coins but if you dont mind digging newer money these sites can be gold mines when it comes to lost change. Save it all up over a season of detecting and then cash it all in. Who knows you might have enough to get that new rifle you HAD been saving for.

There is alot of lost change out there not to mention jewelry and other valuables.

I have found Bracelets, Watches, Rings, Earrings, Pendants, Gold Chains and Medals just to name a few. You would be surprised at what people lose.

You may be suprised at what you find. This spring I hit a park that was put in just a few years ago and was very suprised to find several old wheaties and some old silver coins. I was very puzzled to be finding such old coins in such a new park so I began to ask around. It seems that there was large amounts of fill brought in to build the park. I was told that the fill came for an old county fair ground that was regraded and planted. I am also working on some leads as to where the rest of the fill went to. Hopefully I'll have a couple of more places to hit soon.

Good Luck and Happy Hunting.

Sounds pretty cool, Meatball!  Any dates or ID markings on the silver coins?

Good luck, and if you find anymore do give us an update.

Great job, Meatball! Keep us posted and feel free to post pics of your finds if you have some. You might want to find that old fair ground and give that place a shot. They couldnt have gotten all the coins outta there!

Sorry it took so long to reply. Been really busy with work and the honey-do list. My last trip out there netted me 3 1943 silver coins. Thought it was weird that they were all from '43 but I'll take them anyways.

1- Washington Quarter
1- Barber Dime
and the best of all:

1- Walking Liberty Half Dollar
I was deffinately doing the Happy Dance after that one.

Maybe someday I'll get a camera so I can post some pics.
