Shot the new Ultra
« on: June 06, 2006, 02:00:41 AM »
Shot the boy's .30-06 Ultra, yesterday.  Didn't do anything to scientific.  Picked up a couple of boxes of .30-06 180 gr. power point plus[Win. supreme].  It was the only ammo I could find in town.  Went to mom's and set up at 50 yds., just to get the scope sighted in.  Used sand bags on the hood of my pickup.  Took 3 shots to dial it in dead on.  Fired 6 shots, and really didn't let the barrel cool to much between shots.  All six were under an inch.  this was the first shots thru the gun.  I think it is going to be a keeper.  Now to get it on a bench at 100 yds., with some different brands of ammo.  BTW, I was in a hurry, and didn't clean between shots.  The only thing I did was the O-ring trick.  All shells ejected perfectly.

Sounds like it definately has potiential...as if I doubted that :-D  :agree:
I take it that you where shooting the Nosler CT Ballistic Silvertips?
Good choice on ammo. My 30-06 also likes the Super-X Silver Tips. But for the money, you can buy better ammo in my opinion that these. Especially sence the price went up. Regular Super-X ammo is the price of Premium, about $18 or so a box! :? Try out a box of Federal Fusions, as well as Federal Power Shocks. You might be surprised.
Can't wait to hear you stretch it's legs.. 8)
