My wife gave me a $30 gift certificate for my local gun shop. Does this constitute permission to apply that $30 toward the purchase of a new premier grade FA revolver?

Absolutely.

But since when does a man need his wife's permission for anything? Sorry does not compute.

If the FA you want is in a caliber you don't already have, in another revolver , buy some ammunition, and then the new handgun MUST follow.

Is that like the "I bought this purse with my gift certificate and I just knew you would want me to have a dress, hat and shoes to match it so I bought them also" argument?  Hmmmmm, just might work.

SJPrice:

That's the phenomenon. Of course I'd also need an African safari hunt to try out the new gun too.

I need money for other stuff right now so it'll have to wait, but it's a good thought.

I think that you should purchase some thing with that $30.  She needs to be able to enjoy the gift she gave...so, find a nice box of .454 Casull ammo (Winchester 260 grain Partition Gold, for instance) and plunk the certificate down.  Now, since you don't have a .454 Casull, now you'll have to purchase one.  She gave you the ideal hunting revolver cartridge since she is such a wonderful wife.  Now, you are all set as you find that perfect FA to match her gift.

I figured I'd get a nice 4-pound keg of powder for my rifle.
