more mortar shots at test range
« on: June 09, 2006, 04:29:24 PM »
here are some shots of us shooting 400 & 600 yds, getting ready for the Casper shoot.
first pic is a impact at 400yds, we are using 4oz. 1FA powder, with a 40deg. incline on the barrel.

the next pic is same range but using 3oz. of 3FA powder and 85 grains of FF rifle powder. note how close each shot is to each other.

this last pic is a shot at 600 yds, that's is at just below the top of the hill , if you look at the first pics. on the left side of the road there are some steel posts. they are : 200yd ( one just below the berm.) 400yd where you seen the impact. and 600 yd way up near the top where the road  makes a up swing. this load was 4oz. of 3FA, plus 85grs. of FF rifle powder. notice how much futher one oz. made.

I missed the impact at 600 because i hit the shutter to quick and got only a scene, no ball ,nada.

Cool pictures!

I've always wanted an acreage - 20 feet wide and 1000 yards long + a good backstop.  I'll bet it's windy there at times!
