DID GET OUT TO-DAY WITH THE B.C.
« on: June 09, 2006, 06:54:38 AM »
I did see a great improvement over the last range time with the 45-70 B.C. I did put a clover leaf group together 5 shot at the 50 yard target, but them 500 grain bullets have to go ,a little too much when it came to recoil.
I did use goex 2F black 15 rounds 65 grains and 15 rounds 70 grains
The 70 grains did shoot the best.
I also think what improvement in  shooting was switching the front sight,My eye just can't pickup them inserts on the globe sight,I even when as far as drilling a large hole in the cover ,but still no good.
I will go back to them 405 grainers ,I also found the .459 diameter bullet work better then them .458 :D

LOL..  I know what you mean about recoil being too much with the heavy slugs.  I had a handful of 550gr slugs that I loaded up, darn things beat the crap out of me.

The first time I shot the b.c. with 405 grain bullets and a full charge of black, the rifle shot nice.
The b.c. is too light for them 500 grain boolets, but I did well shooting them ,would be an excellent game boolet, don't think nothing walk away from them slugs :)
I would think more for a sharp rifle that weigh around the 12 to 13lbs range to hold down recoil

I shoot 525gr bullets in my .45-120 BC, just put some weight in the stock bolt hole and a Galco recoil pad on it and quit whining!!! :-D  :-D  :-D
