What is your favorite load in your 30-06?

For my 30/06, I've settled on Nosler 168 gr. BTHP match bullets for target and varmints (< 1MOA) and 165 gr. Hornady Interbonds (<1.5 MOA) for hunting. I use carefully prepped military cases, Federal 210M primers and Varget (I don't remember exactly how many grains but is 2 or 3 notches below maximum loads in my handbooks).

I use several loads with several different bullets.But I guess my favorite would be Nosler Part. GoldMoly 150 gr.,CCI 200 primer with 49 gr. of Varget.My 2nd choice would be Comb.Tech. 168 gr.Silvertips BT,CCI 200 primer with 53.5 gr. of H-380.......Rick

Mine is a 165 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip, Rem cases, Winchester primers and 57 grains of IMR 4350. Stays around 3/4" if I do my part.

48 grains of IMR 4064 with a Sierra 165 grain bullet. Hollow points shoot the best but I've had good luck with their spitzer boat tail also.

57 gr of H- 4530 behind a 165 gr Hornady SST, CCI LR primer. Shoots MOA or better in both of my .06s and has proven itself afield as well.

I like 60 gn of 4831 under a 180 gn spire point boattail or 56/6 gn of IMR 4350 undre a 190 gn baottail soft point. Works for me. Mikey.

Mine is 58 grs IMR-4350 w 165gr Hornady BTSP, either their Interlock or Interbond. They shoot the exact same out of my Rem M700, 5 shots into 1". Avg MV = 2850 fps with this load.

IMHO a perfect whitetail/mule deer load.

I have two "favorite" loads for my 3006.

one for when I feel like watching chucks explode;

130 hp 59 gr WW760 2997 fps

And for serious shooting (things with antlers, horns and claws)

165 btsp 51.3 gr H380 2736 fps

Both have shot to single five shot groups of .5 inch but more importantly they will both shoot 20 round aggregates in .75 - day in - day out anywhere from sea level at 85 F to 5000 feet at mid teens (13 to 17 F)
These are Accurate, consistant loads in my gun. Either one will kill up to deer size game with an appropriate shot. The 165 is good on anything I want to hunt here in Washington.

PaulS I like your advice about not trusting loads guys publish on the 'net. I was going to load .300H&H tonight for the first time and I printed off some data from a couple of the reloading sites. I found pretty much every load exceeded Max... some by 4-6 grains... :eek:

My most accurate load is 165 Sierra GKs with IMR 4895 (half inch groups) but I only get about 2550 fps. After extensive loading and shooting, the best hunting load I found for my Rem. 700 is Federal Premiums with Nosler partitions from Walmart.

I have often posted that if you buy a 30-06 and it will not shoot well using a good 165gr bullet in front of 57grs of IMR4350 right from the beginning, sell the rifle and save yourself a lot of grief. :grin:

10-4 on not taking loads on the internet as being gospel. But then, every load, whether from a load book or hearsay, should be worked up to. I just posted a load of 57grs of Imr 4350 in a 30-06. I've used it for years and killed a whole bunch of stuff with it, as, I'll bet, have others. That's no guarentee that it won't blow your rifle into small, smoking shards of steel. :eek:

If it won't 'shoot' with 57gns of 4350 and a 165, get an exorcist or sell it!!!! capt david :wink: :wink: :wink: :wink:

Agreed on the 165 and 57 gr. 4350, good in mine, dad's, and brother-in-law's rifle, after working up separate loads in each, I arrived at this load in each one! 2 Win. 70's and a Browning Medallion.
