Gile flowage question
« on: May 26, 2006, 12:30:55 AM »
Anyone here familiar with the Gile flowage? I have been thinking of fishing and camping on the islands sometime this summer. I have fished it before, but not camped on it. I remember a few of the boat ramps had signs saying no overnight parking. So my question is which launch do folks use who camp the islands for say a week? There must be a launch where you can leave your rig parked overnights. Yes, no?

I have been doing the Turtle Flambeau flowage in recent years for camping/fishing, but would like to tangle with the Gile for a change.

I fished the Gile about 30 years ago so things have certainly changed since I've been there.  However, the Turtle-Flambeau Flowage is not very far from there and is a very good fishery.  Camping on the islands is great.  Springstead Landing has the largest parking area, otherwise you might have to find a resort ($) to park your rig long term.
We learn something new everyday whether we want to or not.

Thanks Esox

I sorta gave up on the Gile, due to a number of things. I have fished both the Gile and TFF before, but only camped on the TFF. Since I already know what to expect, we'll be headin' to said flowage. And yeah, Springstead - That has got to be one of the finest launches in the state (and free!!)

Thanks
