HOT CORE BULLETS
« on: July 01, 2006, 05:30:42 AM »
My .270 shoots these speer 130 grain bullets great. How are the for preformance on deer? I load them at 53 grains of IMR 4350 so we are talking 2800 fps. I'm a hornady man when it comes to hunting, but would switch.  Thanks, TVC15

One of the guys in my hunting party has been using these bullets in a little 6mm and has taken several deer with absolutely no problems.  In a 270, they will get the job done!

I too am a Hornady fan today but years ago I usd a lot of Speer Hot Cores. Great bullet's. The problem I had with Speer bullets was that Vernon Speer sold out to OMARK and they were not customer friendly as  Vernon's company was. Funny thing about me, if ya don't talk to me, I don't buy your stuff.

In the meanwhile, I switched over completely to Hornady and nobodys done enought better and Hornady hasn't screwed up enough to make me change.

Hot cores were one of the first premium bullets.  They were doing what everone else now sells for a lot more except with that pretty plastic tip.

At 2800 f.p.s. those 130's would work great. I've been using 150 gr. hot cor's for a long time. My favorite 270 bullet.
