The pain of being poor . . .
« on: July 18, 2006, 07:33:50 AM »
Fell in love yesterday with two guns. One was the new Mosquito, and the other was a 6" Colt Diamondback that was as smooth as silk. I forgot what the price was on the Sig, but the Diamondback was $500. Too much for me right now, and I'm bettin' it ain't gonna last long! Haven't even seen one in about 15 years.

That is an excellent price for a 22 Diamondback.  Go back and put it on lay-away or trade something for it.  You won't regret it but you WILL regret letting it get away.

+1 for that. If I run acros something I cannot live without (happens about once a week now ;D ) I put it on layaway of look carefully at my childre....er guns and see who is on the bubble (malfuctioning, shoots poorly wrong color etc. :D) and use that aas either trading stock or at least for a downpayment to put it on layaway. I've even put guns "on $10 0r $20 hold" with shops that know me to get a proper payment. If you want it there are creative LEGAL ways to get it :D.

Old Griz:

You've probably got a fine harem of guns, all begging to be shot more. Sure the new ones are nice, but you can live without them.

If the previous two sentences don't ring true for the Diamondback, you really should go back and do something about it though. You can get a SIG anytime, but good Diamondbacks aren't getting any more common.

(side note: We went to a huge street rod show a few weeks back and after seeing it I firmly believe that there are more '57 Chevys today than there were in 1957.)

I went by the shop today and I guess somebody wised up. Today the price was $595. That's a bit more than I'm gonna pay for a .22. I'd rather get another 617. On well.

The 617 would be my choice in the first place. The Diamondback wasn't meant to be.
