It seems to me a while back somebody posted something about lantaka's and and how to tell fakes from real.  Does anyone remember that and can refresh my memory?

But I Will say being near a lantaka is a scary thing! it looks like they could do more damage to your ship than the other guy's!

RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

A lantaka is a highly decorated, long-in-proportion-to-bore cannon indigenous to the far eastern islands such as the Philippines and Indonesia.  As is usual in most enterprises, there are better ones and worse ones.  They are apparently collected with some fervor; at least enough that some people are faking lantakas to get in on the action.
