Hi,
I'm looking at a used MEC Grabber in my local gun shop for $160. It has thw wooden handle, does this mean that it has the new type primer system? There is not much info with this. How would be the best way to tell??? Any help or suggestions is highly appreciated! Thanks!

I don't have a Grabber, mine are all 600jr's and 650's and a Super 250, so can't directly answer your question. You can look at the Grabber manual at:
http://www.mecreloaders.com/OwnerManuals/OwnerManuals.asp

Or call their Tech Support: 1-800-797-4632. They've always been ready to answer any questions I've had.

The wood handle is probably a replacement, but when I was using manually operated MEC's, I preferred the wood handle over the plastic grip.

The new primer system is operated by an "L" shaped bracket on one of the operating links pushing against a plastic plunger.  The old style was operated by a ball pull chain pulling on the primer feed arm.  The priming system shown in Picture 3 on the Grabber manual, http://www.mecreloaders.com/documents/ownermanuals/8567.pdf , is the old style.

my grabber 8567 has the wood handle and the old style primer tray with ball chain operated drop.

it works great.  easy to adjust and to stop the primer drop if i need to.

don't be concerned about the primers - just make sure the model is the current model - 8567.

go look at the MEC site for a list of current models and obsolete models.

i paid $110 for mine on ebay.
