Try:http://stevespages.com/227.html
Also, In Ken Waters' Pet Loads there is a good article on the .22 Hi-Power. I have a Savage 99 in .22 Hi-Power and enjoy using it. In my Hi-Power I can use Winchester 64 grain Power Points and the Speer 70 grain .22 caliber bullets with very good accuracy. I form my cases from .25-35 Winchester brass. I just run them into the .22 Hi-Power sizing die and I am all set to go.

Thanks,

Yesterday i tryed 2 loads with the .227 Hornady suggesterd by Ken Waters in the Handloader articale- 21.0gr. of RL#7 and 25gr. of BLC2 and both looked like a shotgun pattern.

I also tryed the 63 gr. .228 Sisk with 25 gr. of 3031 with the same results.

Then i tryed some 70 gr Dominon (spelling ?) factory stuff that came with the rifle. The first thee shot group shot into 3/4" at 50yds. and the second three went into about 1/2" with two touching. I have 30 of these left for preditor control untell i find a load that works

Waters did not have much luck with the 70 grain Hornady either. Try the 70 grain Speers or the 64 grain Winchesters.

Old Pete, The problem with the Hornady .228 bullets is the shape of the ogive! The original bullets for the High Power were a semi spitzer/ round nose style and the Hornady bullets are a spitzer type! If you have a very good barrel try the 70gr Speer bullets. Although they are only .224 they shoot very good in my High Power. If you do some searching you might be able to get some Norma or RWS .228 bullets that are the correct shape! Get ahold of the old west scrounger and they might be able to help you.

As far as reloads, use the 70gr Hornady for 3100fps-1500fpe,with 27.0grs of IMR 3031 with 22in medium weight barrel and 1" at 100yds all day long.

As far as factory loads there are a ton,and they aren't hard to find or very costly.I have probably 10 boxes of 22 Hi-Power(AKA 5.6x52R):

Sellier & Bellot 70gr SP Spitzer
Norma 71gr SP Semi Spitzer
Remington 70gr SP Core-Lokt Hi-Speed
Savage Top Notch 70gr Sp

Savage made ammo itself for 22 Hi-Power from 1912 -1928.
Then US Cartridge Co made ammo for Savage in 22Sav from 1928-1935.
Then Remington made ammo for Savage in 22Sav from 1935-59.
All these carry Savage logo on box and have Savage headstamp, even though they were made by other companies. So there is tons of ammo out there for it.Enforcer

The sellier& bellot 5.6x52R is pretty good ammo and very reasonably priced, the Norma ammo is very good but not as cheap and if one can find the older Savage and remington brand ammo it would be better in a collection then to be shot! I'm not sure where you are finding tons of this ammo, but it sure isn't in my area. I've never gotten good accuracy with the Hornady bullets in the several different High powers i've owned, not nearly as good as the long discontinued Speer .228 semi spitzer bullets. Luckily I have about 3000 of the Speer bullets put away!

I certainly will.I will contact you with different brands and cost.Or you can tell me in advance which brand you are interested in for each ammo,if you already know. And I'll get them for you.I often buy rare ammo and resell it on the auction sites.Enforcer

One of buddies is on vaction, but have still rounded up one full  box of the 22 Hi-Power stamped S.A. Corp. on ammo, and a full box of  the 219 Zipper in Winchester no problem. Both boxes 95% or better, ammo same and factory original loads.
I've found two boxes of 303 Savage in Savage brand ammo. But one was all Peters inside but two,and the other was just a half box of Savage ammo. They are running $53.00 a box, plus $6.50 shipping.Let me know what you what to.Enforcer
