need help

Hello all,
  I've been out of bow hunting about 15 yrs.I used to use a PSE with 65% letoff and set at 72 lbs,draw is about 29 inches.Well,im looking to start up again. What would you you guys recommend in a economy class compound bow setup ? We have a gander mountain here and they are pushing their guide series which is made by Bowtech.Bow comes with sights,rest,quiver,peep and hand loop along with 3 carbon arrow for $399,its 80% letoff which i think im leaning towards.There is a similar PSE kit there for $299.Online i saw a PSE deerhunter system,delivered to your door for $349 and it includes a hardcase,6 arrows,and everything else the two above include.Any thoughts ? oh,yes...i'd like to keep it under $350.

Personally I have always perferred a 65 persent letoff or less! I am more accurate with it!

if thats your budget...my best advice is to look at used equipment.  if you are buying the packages for low buck like that..regardless of vendor...you are getting their most cheaply made bows.

bowtech makes great bows.....pse makes great bows, darton makes great bows...martin makes great bows...and lots of companies do.....but their cheap bows are just that ...cheap.

you skinp on stuff like a nice wood or rubberized grip and wind up with hard plastic or machined alumnum and sacrifice comfort.  it will work great at first....but as you get more into it...(and yu know from your past experience)...that the little things that they used to cut corners...will start to bug you.

just my 2 cents worth....and im only speaking on my experience..im sure others will differ in opinion.

most smaller local bow shops (pro shops) will have some very good quality bows that are a year or 4 old......that will have a great price on them.  its not crazy to think you could pick up a top of the line bowtech from three years ago completely outfitted for 250.00........they might be few n far between....but its an avenue worth checking out.

If that is your budget then go used.

I was also looking at the PSE packages in Cabelas and after talking with the local shop owner I found out that the local shops cannot sell the Cabelas models. They are made for the catalog market.

I was looking in the $500 range and hunt ready. So after more research, two weeks ago I finally bought a Hoyt Lazertech for $460, bare bow. No sights, rest, etc. I have picked up some used extras for cheap or nothing and am shooting, the better extras will com later.

Well,i bought a new bow kit at Gander Mountain.Its listed as a Fred Bear TRX 400(team realtree xtreme) but i cant find any information anywhere online about this bow so im assuming its made for Gander Mountain.I'k gonna bet that its a renamed Fred Bear Mossy Oak Reaper by sister company Golden Eagle.Single cam,Split-limb,50-70#,28-30 in draw,36in axle to axle,65% let-off,rated at 292 fps.I bought the kit for $250 and replaced the prong rest with a whisker biscuit,replaced the cheapo quiver with a nice one that accepts mechanical or fixed blade and added a stabilizer,wrist sling.I compared it to one other Bear (element),2 PSE's (typhoon and ?) and one bowtech.For the money,the one i bought was the smoothest,and had the least amount of vibration,and no handshock.2nd time out i robinhooded..im pleased.
