Those Rem 700's ML are getting hard to come by, and what's worse the used ones are now selling for the price of the new ones a few years ago. Although i did find two brand new ones in Sprtsmans Warehouse today.
I have to of them, a 24" and a 26" - both will shoot just about any bullet sabot combination I want to put down them. Remingtons have a very tight barrel so you will have to use thin sabots.... Harvesters or MMP HPH-24's for .451/.452 bullets.
In the 26" Rem which I used for elk I shot .458 (45-70) caliber 300 grain Nosler Partitions in an Orange MMP - HPH sabot, sitting ontop of 110 grains of T7-2f - ignited by a 209 shotgun primer... If your gun comes with a Remington 209 conversion you are not going to like it... Look @ the 209 conversion kit in Cabelas - much better and cleaner conversion kit, easier to work also. If you are shooting #11's (Mags) they will worl well also but I would switch to 3f powder - easier to ignite when it is cold.
I use the 24" for deer and my only change is I switch projectiles to either a Nosler 260 grain partition or for a less exspensive bullet a bonded Speer 250 grain Gold Dot - both of these are deadly on deer out to 150 yards... They will work beyond that also but you have to start dealing with drop because of the low BC these bullets have.
The Rem is a great gun learn how to take care of, and clean the bolt and the gun will last you a lifetime....
