dad's got to brag
« on: July 08, 2006, 09:49:39 PM »
I took my boy to 4-H  shooting practice today.  He decided to shoot at 100 yard rams to start with and he hit 11 out of 13!!! :o  He is shooting a CVA hunter bolt with 4 inches cut off the bbl, factory sights and shooting sticks that I made for him.  His load was 50gr of FFF 777 and a 180gr hornady 44 cal sabot. He was ear to ear grins the rest of the day. Now if I can just start shooting that well. :D  And the best thing is this whole setup has cost me less than $100.  Who says shooting has to be expensive.

Way to go Pop!! It isn't easy keeping the interest of young ones involved in shooting. I tried with my two sons and it just wasn't meant to be. You should be proud.... ;)

I used to hunt with an older gentleman with two sons, niether of which had any interest in hunting at all. Be grateful your son enjoys shooting. My son shows some interest, hopefully it will develop into a passion like mine did. My father was never into shooting or hunting, but somehow I got the bug for both.

I have got real lucky.  My wife loves to hunt and fish, and I also have 2 young daughters that are 3 and 5 that cant wait to start shooting and hunting too.  The 5 year old can already name amimal tracks and the 3 year old can spot a rabbit at 50 yards.  Every time my boy would knock a target over he would say "That is what I am going to do to my deer this year".
LIFE IS GOOD!!!!!!!
