Good Powders For 7-30 Waters

Well i've got a new loading press and all the trimmings 139gr. BTSP hornady's and140 gr. SBT sierra's could i get a lille help on the powder? 748 and 4895  keeps coming up a lot. any other suggestions?

You've already listed the one powder I have found to be the most accurate in my 15" barrel. IMR 4895

Thanks HL. I think I will go tomorrow and get one of each. Most of the books and forums I've been reading list these 2 powders in about every catagory and bullet weight they have. Varget hangs a close 3rd but both local dealers do not carry it. Thanks for your input seems like one of these 2 powders are goining to have to do either 4895 or the 748.

I have been using the Sierra 120gr bullet with 35gr. of IMR 4895. So far the groups I have recorded with this load stay under 3/4 inch at 100yds.

Good enough for whitetails.

I have had good luck with AA 2230 under a 130gr ssp sierra.H-4895 works good also but the AA2230 gets a little more velocity. Both are very accurate.

I've been using Hodgdon  H-414  with 120 Gr Nosler BT.  with 1 inch groups and 100 yards in my 10" barrel.

Eventhough I have my hunting load with IMR 4895, I always look for additional good loads to use. Next, I will be trying 140gr bullets using RL15. According to the loading manuals, this powder will get you the best velocities with that weight of bullet. No way to tell until I load a few up and run them through the chronograph.

I'll let you know how it goes. I've had a few months haitus from the range due to a father-in-law recooping from a traffic accident and my father recovering from major surgery. Hopefully I can get back to the range in the next few weeks.All though I love shooting, family comes first.

Thanks Guys for the help. I haven't been on for a while due to computor problems. I've got 2 loads for the Hornady 120 gr. V-MAX win 748 and acc.2460. Both are very accurate with under 1 in. groups at 100 yds. A lot of that could be better but it has to do with the shooter!!!!! Any way just last night I ordered a chorongraph, Haven't told Little Mom this yet but I got to see how fast these things are. Again thank you all for your help and HL I hope your father-in-law is doing OK. I'm with you pal GOD,FAMILY and the rest is the cherry on top of the Banna Split.
