Questions on United States Firearms Sheriff model
« on: August 20, 2006, 03:48:02 PM »
Dear holders of needed knowledge:

I just won an auction on one of the sites for such things. for a United States Firearms (USFA) single action army sheriff model with a 3" barrel and two cylinders (45 Colt 45 ACP).  Here is my question:  Does anyone know how I can tell if this is an older gun using Italian parts or an all USA made model?  Further; does anyone have any information about the sheriff models and how common they are, or any other information on them or on the USFA in general.

Thanks to any that have information to offer.

I have only seen their guns on their website. However, I have one on order, though not the Sherrif's Model. I ordered it because several folks told me USFA had the finest quality craftsmanship, second only to Freedom Arms. Of course, they have the finest price, second only to Freedom Arms as well! So, if the old saying is true, "You get what you pay for," then you should have a fine pistol (even though you won it and didn't have to pay for it).

Good luck with it, and happy shootin'.

Thanks for the encouragement, but to win an auction is to be the highest bidder.  It was FAR from free.  :-)

Sorry—brain fart. Hope it was a low bid!

Go to USFIREARMS.com & call their toll-free #........which, after several years, they've finally re-insituted, ...1-877-227-6901. Give them the serial # & they'll tell you the date of manufacture. I have a 1998 mfg'd OmniPotent Target, which has Uberti parts in it & it shoots great. Uberti parts are top-notch, as far as I know. JD45

Thank you JD45!  I called the number you gave me and talked with a very friendly lady.  She looked up the ser number and told me it was made in 2004 and was all USA made parts.  She looked up the file and confirmed that it had come from the factory with the two cylinders.  I am very happy with the gun, and even more so with the information I got from USFA.  Thanks much!!!
