41 mag or 445
« on: July 04, 2006, 10:22:27 AM »
I have a 357 and 44 mag.  What will the 41 mag or the 445 mag do that these wont?

Nothing, other than adding another gun to your collection.  ;D

The 41 will have more ooph than the 357 with less flash and blast (I am not a fan of the 357) and less recoil than the 44.  Plus with the 41 you would then be shooting and enjoying one of the most underated calibers out there.

As far as the 445, it will have much more power and kick, but unless you are after some big critters, I would not want all the recoil.

I have never even seen a .445, so I can't comment on it. However, I have really become a .41 fan in my old age. Like Bullseye said, less recoil, and it will kill anything you will hunt in the lower 48. (Is there anything to hunt in Hawaii?) It's a nice, accurate round. I can't understand why it didn't catch on. (Nor the .260 for that matter.)

I won't go into my usual drum beating for the .41RemMag, suffice to say "try it you'll like it." ;D
Love those .41s'

The .41 mag is a decent round. Anyone shooting more than a couple times a year would surely want to reload. There is not much available in bullet choices compared to the .44. With bullets of simular weights loaded to magnum levels, I can't tell any difference between it and the .44 as far as muzzle blast or recoil goes. If you want a .41 for the novelty, then go for it! Otherwise, the .44 is the way to go for the versatiliity.
