Weaver V10 FMC 2-10x50mm
« on: July 18, 2006, 07:54:22 PM »
Would this be a good scope to put on my Tikka T3 30-06. I will be hunting moose, caribou, and black bear. Caribou can offer some long 200 + yard shots. Moose hunting on tundra can be long shots as well. I think I would prefer the 50 to help with low light conditions but I hope it won't be too unwieldy on a light gun?

I can get the scope for $260 CDN new. I thought this may be pretty cheap for a good scope but perhaps I'm just a good shopper. I can go as high as $350, would there be a scope you guys would suggest?

I looked at it on his site. It is a good price but with exchange and extra shipping, it would be better for me to get it closer to home. I do see that the Leupold VX-11 is much cheaper than what I can get it here. Is there any reason I should get the Leupold over the Weaver?

The Grand Slams have supurb glass IMO. As do Leupolds. Depends on your taste and eyes too.
For the money, Weaver really has a lot going for them though.
