Ideal bullet weight for 375 Winchester

Every caliber has the ideal bullet weight.  A balance between velocity, powder capacity, and downrange energy retention.  What do you think that would be for the 375 Winchester?

There aren't a whole lot of options for jacketed bullets and the .375 Win.  The two most common are the Sierra 200g and the Hornady 220g.

Using AA1680, my Marlin will drive a 220 to 2396fps and a 220 to 2335fps.

Zeroing for Maximum Point Blank Range puts them both +3.0" high at 100 yards.  The 220 carries 100fpe more at all ranges out to 300 and at 300 it is down an inch more then the 200 at -18.6.

The only on-game experience I have is with the 220 - a buck antelope at 167 lasered yards.  He made a death leap and dropped.  The bullet exited.

My Marlin 375 shoots the Hornady 220s quite well. I really think it is an excellent choice for a game bullet in a 357 Winchester rifle.

Hornady made there 220gr specificaly for the .375 Win. Ive used it on deer and one Bl Bear with ideal results. I dont like the 200 grainers as I feel more is better. At the ranges a 375 Win is used, 200 gr doesnt give you anything. Ive been thinking on using the 250 gr. Barnes original or even some of Hawks bullets on some of our WI whitetails, but Ive got so many other things to try it might have to wait. My 2 cents, after using this cartridge now for better than 20 years, 220gr.CRASH87

I tend to favor heavy-for-caliber bullets and since I've started casting my own a couple of years ago, the purchase of jacketed bullets is a rare thing.  I've been mulling over (and over and over) what weight mold to buy and I think I've settled on a 235gr GCWFN with a 70% meplat.  Not exactly heavy for caliber, but over the halfway point and it'll offer me the velocity I want for the ranges I'll be shooting.. <150yds.   The 250 takes a little too much MV away, and the 200 and 220 are just too light for caliber for me.  Not that they won't do the job, just that I like'em a little heavier.
