Gentlemen:
Opening day of Trout season is only two weeks from today, here in Pa. Something good to look forward to, a big part of the whole Springtime ritual.
I'm hoping your Springtime starts with as much anticipation and enjoyment.                                Woodbutcher

Hope you do well. Our season closes up about the same time, so I'll be trying to retie all of the flies I lost this year about the time you get to fire up on a fresh year. Keep us posted!

Ah, a fellow PA fisherman.

I posted something about trout season in the general fishing forum, but I guess they don't like trout over there, for no one has replied :) .

I am sadly not a fly-fisherman however. I'll prolly go down to the stream with my new ultralite and all my new tackle and etc and just start walking and fishing. I find it hard to flyfish in these streams. I tried it when I was a kid...that was the last time I tried. WAY too many trees to work around. Then again, I was thinking about getting a Cabelas kit for $135 that had everything in it...I still might...who knows.

I always love trout season. I feel it is the most challenging of the fresh water species. I didn't catch a whole lot last year, my friend did take me to a native stream however and we had a ball. The trout were only like 6" or 7" but man there were hundreds of em. I sware. In various pools throughout the stream. The biggest one we caught I kept...the only one...he wanted to conserve the trout...understandable I guess.

That trout was tasty! Mmmm..mmmmm. The other trout I caught was in my native stream and they haven't stocked it since 1998 :? . So my guess was that he was a native. But he wasn't that big, so I let him go. Let the trout in that stream get back to where they were too.

Where do you go fishing? I wish ya luck!!  :D

Dear Saxman:
The deadliest and most relentless trout fisherman I've ever seen used a 4 1/2 foot spinning rig and salmon eggs. Ocassionly worms, and rarely, minneys. In times past he used a fly rod, but that was before spinning was really popular, or indeed common. This guy knew!
Sadly, you say? Not really. You're fishing, ain't ya? Tell ya what, I'd loan you a fly reel, you'd put it on your spinnin rod, and you'd be fine! Roll casting would keep you out of the brush, and you'd have another weapon in your arsonal.
Besides, trout fishermen are a different breed. Some of them wander about late into the night, uttering strange crys!    Woodbutcher

Ah that explains the noises I'm hearing near my house :)

I went to that Native stream I mentioned...no trout to be found...musta been washed downstream in the floods. We still got time left, so let's keep nailing them waters. Good luck to ya.  :D
