Model 97 Silhouette sight set
« on: August 01, 2006, 06:09:47 PM »
Would anyone happen to have a Silhouette Competition Rear Sight Assembly (Iron Sights Gun Works) complete with adapter base for a model 97 they would like to sell?

You can contact me by email in my profile if you would like.

Anyone have an alternative they would suggest?

Thanks

ok, Can anyone tell me if the standard rear sight will have enough elevation adjustment for shooting 22lr out to 110yds(smallbore Hunter Silhouette) from a 7.5" barrel?

Ordering the standard rear sight will save me from having to order the adjustable front sight.

I would appreciate any help.

Bmize,

Just going off the FA website, your gun has a 8.75 inch sight radius.  According to my calculations, if your rear sight can be adjusted up and down 0.020 inches, that should be good for 9 inches of movement out at 110 yards.  More than enough for a .22, I would think.  If you have a set of calipers, or some other way of measuring how much your sight moves, you can calculate how far the bullet is going to move at a given distance.

Hope this helps.

Sorry bmize, I just reread your post, and I guess you don't have the sight yet (thinking of ordering one).  Maybe someone with a M97 can measure how far their rear sight moves, and let you know.

Barry, my 5.5" 97 had plenty of elevation adjustment for that range.  You might need a shorter front sight blade.

Thanks for the replys,

Just trying to postpone the $200 sight set for awhile.

It has a very low front sight now and I have a .380 extra from a 97 45 colt I had I can file on if needed.

Anyone happen to have an extra rear sight for a 97 they would part with? :^))

Here is a pic of what I am waiting on
