ruger vaq 7.5" .45c
« on: July 18, 2006, 10:17:50 AM »
I am really interested in getting into handgun hunting my favorite handgun is a Ruger Vaq. 7.5" in .45c I have yet to find a load that it doesnt like and I have had it for a good long time. I usualy carry it as a back up slash plinker when I am out hunting with my long guns. What are yalls recomendations for practice and and loads for GP hunting. I like the Cor-Bon 300gn +P mags but they get a littel exspensive.     P.S. I love to hand load so personal favorite recipies are welcome.

Thanks

I'll 2nd the Corbon's, shoot them in my Encore 15" 460, real nice round. Haven't started my reloading yet, sure need to though.

You sure are right about that .45 colt liking most everything you feed it. My only problems were with low printing lighter bullets and the fixed sight.
With the 250gr on up it really shines though. Unique is great for all around shooting with the 296, 2400, H110 working well for hunting.

John Taffin covers this well to include loads at his site.
