Barnes Triple Shock

I am starting to get into black bear hunting and was wondering if any of you used the new barnes triple shock for bear and boar, i've been using sierra game kings 165gr and nosler ballistic tips 165gr for deer for many years in my Remington 30-06, i was thinking about going to the 180gr triple shock. Any comments would be appreciated.

Well, to tell the truth I shoot a Springfield XD so it doesnt really matter.

The Barnes Triple Shocks bullets are great. The perform flawlessly. I would go with what shoots most accurate in your gun. I am using the 165 gr. TSX in my 300 Win Mag. One thing about the Barnes bullets is, there weight retention over the standard bullet, so a lighter bullets will work as well. JMHO ;D

you may want to check out a thread in the african hunting section ( boreing old 30-06 by JJHACK ) lots of TSX info there. I will be shooting 180 TSX ( Factory Federal loads ) in Africa in a couple of weeks and useing it for ME. Moose in Sept. my gun loves them Win model 70   26" 1in 10 twist.

my dad told me this as well about where it keeps 100% weight retention(the main reason i wanted it) and that i could use the next step down but i'm still debating on if i want the 180 or 200 for bear and boar, kinda want a change from the 165 i've been using for years, my dad says go with the 180 for faster velocity and more penetration but we'll see, dont know if ill start loading for it until i get my other 30-06. Thanks for the info everyone.

actually i think i'm gonna load for the 30-06 with the barnes probably 180s for this year until i get my 300 win mag which i've decided to get instead of the 30-06 again.

I've killed one bear with the TSX , the bear never took a step, and the bullet just kept going. I've also got a couple deer with them. All were complete passthroughs, one was lengthwise. All were 140gr 7mm. Very good bullets if your gun likes them. Like Redhawk, you might try 165gr. in your 06. I think the'll go through about anything. A .30 cal hole going in and a 50 centpiece coming out. Good luck with your hunt.
