Finally!! This is kind of related to Mil Surp rifles......

The best movie for Mil Surp lovers is finally being released on DVD.  Sergeant York(1941) with Gary Cooper.   I have been waiting for this for a LONG time.   Now if they will only bring out April Morning with Tommy Lee Jones!!

Only thing is in the Movie Yorks is issued with an 03 Sprinfield  ??? but in reality he had a P-17, or US Model of 1917  ::) In fact I do not recall seeing any P-14's or P-17's in the film.

I read a story once that Yorks son was interviewd and he stated that his dad HATED the sights on the P-17 and aquired a springfield out there somehow.   I forget where I read that, I do have a copy of his diary, I'll see if I can find any mention of it.

I believe that was mentioned in an American Rifleman article about a year ago.

Also, he really used a 1911 but in the move it's a Luger because they could attach a blank firing device to it
