I think I need a new Bow
« on: July 18, 2006, 11:24:19 AM »
I'm thinking of upgrading to a new Bow.
I now shoot a PSE Thunderbolt, it is like new but it is 13 years old
and I think I need to update.
Right now I'm looking at the 07 Martin Bengal and
the 06 Bear Code. I shot both of these yesturday and they feel pretty Sweet, and quite.
Anyone have any input on these or others I should consider.
I would really like to take a Yote and a Pig and a Bear with a Bow.
Fishing with a Bow is a blast.

Cant go past a Mathews and yes I am extremely biased but these days any of the top line bows will do the job and do it well. Bottom line get what feels good to you. Try out as many as you lay your hands on at the pro shop or friends etc.

Well I went to the shop to.
I tried a Martin Bengal, a Bear Code , a Mathews and a Jennings Strike.
That Jennings kicks butt, talk about a smooth release  8)
The Martin was a close second , it had the smoothest draw and second best release.
I see a Jennings Strike in my Future  ;D

From another biased hunter. I can't get past the consistency of my matthews legacy. Used to shoot a pse, not very well mind you. Went to the pro shop and wanted a new bow. Terry (the owner) asked how much I shot. He said thsat if I didn't have time to shoot pretty regularly I should spend money on a quality bow. I tried a dayton and a jennings and shot a 8 inch group with both, not too bad for having not shot since last deer season and the bows were not set up for me either. Then I shot the matthews and my group shrank to 3 inches! Now I have closed that up to the point that I use five dot targets and shoot at each one seperately because I couldn't afford the arrows anymore. Several groups where all five arrows touched. And believe me it's not me I'm sure its the bow.

Anyway that's what worked for me, I agree you should try as many different bows as you can and find the perfect match for you.

Congrats on the new bow. I would love one but my bow still hits the mark and puts deer in the freezer. And my big boy toy account is pretty low at present. You wont be disappointed with the Switchback.

Sorry I have been known to be a bad influence. But there are a lot of worse things you can spend your time and money on.
