Mrs. Greybeard:
THese are some of my family relatives.  I am trying to put as much as I can into a history for my father.  These are his mothers people and he has little to go on but names.  Where can I get more information about the person except for just their names?

Ben,  Eve and Nathan were from Lincoln County, North Carolina and moved to Bartow County, Georgia in the 1840's.  I have some information at the bottom of page 2 about them and also about Eve's parents Valentine Cline and Anna Gertrout Cansler.

I will make a list of the web sites that I have found that had information about the Cline and Abernathy's family and post them for you.

Faye
(4th great-granddaughter of Eve Cline and Nathan Abernathy through son Isaiah)

PS Eve was born about 1794 and died before 1870.  Nathan was born about 1790 and died after 1871.  They were married on January 28, 1808 in Lincoln County, North Carolina. They were both born in Lincoln County, North Carolina and they both died in Bartow County, Georgia.  They are buried at Old Macedonia Cemetery, Bartow County, Georgia.

My great, great, great grandmother was Wiley Ann Abernathy, born 1772 in Lincoln Co. NC.  died 1860 in Catawba Co. NC.  Married Lemuel Sauders Sr.  28 sept. 1803 in Lincoln Co. NC.......

Her father (my great, great, great, great grandfather) was James Abernathy, Married to a woman named elizabeth.  Could this be the same bunch of Abernathy's?  Any birth date for James?  Marriage date?  Any clue as to Elizabeth's last name?

victorcharlie,  I have been going over the information that I have on my Abernathy line and I don't have any information on the James and Elizabeth that you are looking for.

Since all of these Abernathy were in Lincoln County, North Carolina I have a feeling that they are related but at the moment I haven't found out how.

Do you happen to know the names of Wiley Ann and Lemuel's children?

My great great grandfather was Miles A. Saunders born about 1813 in Lincoln Co. NC, died April 1867 in Bollinger Co. Missouri, son of Lemuel Saunders and Wiley Ann Abernathy.  Miles married Melinda Goodson 19 November 1836 in Lincoln Co. NC.  Melinda Goodson was born 1814 in Lincoln Co. NC, died 1876 in Madison Co. Missouri.

I don't have any other information about Lemuel and Wiley Ann's other children.

Having spent a fair amount of time working on the family's genealogy I can see how we're all related.....either by blood or through marriage......

I think, that most of my family came through Virginia and then into NC.  Not sure about where the Abernathy's entered, and haven't found the missing link to take them to there home of origin.

On my fathers line, (top line)  I have a copy of my 7th great grandfathers
contract where he became an indentured servant for 4 years to gain access to America.......I know the ship he came over on, and can trace that line to 1550 in England.

Fasinating stuff......sure takes a lot of time though.....

Pre computer this probably wouldn't have been possible or would have taken many, many years of research and much travel........

victorcharlie,

The Miles catch my eye because Nathan's parents were Miles Abernathy and Ursula Bradshaw and Nathan's siblings were Seth, James and Elizabeth.
Seth and his wife Mary"Polly" Cline(Eve's sister) had a son named Miles. Seth, Mary and their children were in Catawba County, North Carolina.

Elizabeth and her husband John Philip Cline(Eve's brother) were in Owen County, Indiana

The only thing I know about James is he married Elizabeth Clore.

I have information on James and a good bit of them only with names and dates some locations all the back form George Abernetycalled de Barrie.  I am looking to fill in the history of who these people are and what they did.  I have collected information from the web and have gotten what I can from living Abernathys so I am confident that most is correct.
You may email me for certian ones and I will give you what I can. :-)
