I couldn't stop myself!
« on: July 23, 2006, 04:12:03 AM »
I've been kicking around the idea of a big bore Encore barrel with open sights for hunting hogs here in East Tn. for awhile. Me and my 20 year old son went to the gun show in Knoxville yesterday. Big mistake! Ended up having a 24" 45-70 follow me home. And he brought friends like 50 new Starline cases, some 405 grain cast flatnose bullets, and a new box of dies. I'm hoping if I keep all my loads in the mid lever action range the recoil won't stomp me too bad. I've already got a Sims recoil pad so I think I'm set. That makes three barrels now for a gun I said I was only gonna have one for. I think I'm getting Redhawkitis! ;D

Way to go, nothing wrong with having a lot of barrels for your Encore. My problem is, I keep getting the frames also.
Here is a list of my Encores and set ups.

Pro-hunter 50 cal M/L Nikon Omega 3X9X40 scope, Pro-hunter thumbhole stock and forearm.
SS 50 Cal M/L Leupold 2X7X32 VXII, thumbhole Walnut stock and forearm.
Blued 45 Cal M/L Leupold 2X7X32 VXII Laminated stock and forearm.
SS 22-250 IOR Voldada 3.5X10X56 Laminated thumbhole stock and forearm.
SS 7mm-08 Nikon Buckmaster 6X20X40AO, Pro-hunter stock and forearm.
416 Rigby Leupold 1X4X20 VariXII barrel only.

Redhawkitis!?  I wondered what the name would be for this condition.  Unfortunately it's not just Encores, but Contenders as well.  I have 4 Contender barrels and 2 frames; as well as 3 Encore barrels and 2 frames.  Next on the list for the Encore is a 460 S&W!

I'm glad I found Graybeard Outdoors - Hi my name is Chuck and I have Redhawkitis! :o

Hi Chuck.  ;D :D The only thing different is, in these meetings we encourage indulgence.  :D

Redhawkitis - meaning to encourage indulgence! Is there a posting for a support group to overcome over-indulgence? I suspect not...I am therefore DOOMED!  8)

That's a good thing.  ;D
