Marlin 45acp Campgun
« on: February 14, 2007, 05:56:47 PM »
Don't know if I picked the right forum, but here goes.
Going to a gunshow this weekend and was wondering fair prices on the Marlin Campgun in 45ACP?  Also, does anyone know if there are pistol mags that fit this gun, if I am lucky enough to find one for sale.  I have heard about this rifle and have seen a couple pics.  It sounds like they don't come available very often, so I thought I should start lookin' now.
Someday would like to have a pistol and rifle in 45acp that will take interchangable clips.  Would like to do the same thing with a 357Mag in a revolver and a Lever gun.  Just somethin' I always wanted to have.  Thanks

Here's one on gun broker($400)  http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=65970070  I've heard that you can use  Smith and Wesson 29/59 (I cannot remember) mags in them.  Here's another on gunsamerica ($599) http://www.gunsamerica.com/classifieds/none/_976706532.aspx  Hope this helps and that you find one.

If it is the Marlin Camp Carbine you are referring to it takes standard 1911 magazines.  Mikey.

HOWDY !         THE RIFLE /PISTOL COMBO YOU REFER TO IS A REQUIREMENT IN S.A.S.S. SHOOTING . THE OLE COWBOYS LIKE IT BECAUSE THEY COULD USE THE SAME AMMO IN EITHER . .367 MAG , 44 MAG ARE POPULAR ! OF COURSE NOW YOU CAN HAVE A SINGLE OR DOUBLE ACTION PISTOL.       LIKE YOU I ASLO WANTED THE SAME COMBO IN 45 ACP . THE PISTOL (1911) WAS OUR ISSUED SIDEARM AND I STILL SHOOT ONE BUT THE 45 CARBINE (COMMANDO) HAS NOT BEEN USED RECENTLY . GOING IN OTHER DIRECTIONS . IT IS BASICALLY A COPY OF THE THOMPSON BUT IN SEMI ONLY ! USE DRUM (50 ROUNDER NEVER GOT ONE) OR STRAIGHT 20 ROUND MAGS .  HAVE SEVERAL . IT IS PROBABLY ON THE TRADABLE/SELLABLE LIST . IF YOU ARE INTERESTED ? PM ME .
happy trailes to you,

I have owned one for years and the mags are interchangeable with my 1911. I paid 250 bucks for it new at a local sporting goods store. It is a joy to shoot with low report and recoil and accurate to 50 yards.

[color=blu               HOWDY!             DO KNOT KNOW WHEN CHEEZY DID THAT . 2006 BLUE BOOK SAYS MANUF 1986-1999) ONLY . LAST MSR WAS  $443.00 . SO  YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A GUN 8 YEARS OUT OF PRODUCTION .  NO INDICATION AS TO HOW MANY WERE PRODUCED ! A REALLY SUPER CLEAN ONE WOULD PROBABLY GET $500.00 .
BUT BACK REFERANCE TO BASIC SALES......HOW BAD DOES THE BUYER WANT IT  VS. HOW BAD DOES THE SELLER WANT TO SELL !!!
happy trailes to  you,

P.S.   ALSO REMEBER THAT THE TOMMY GUN STYLE WEAPON IS TRIED AND TRUE . MANY WERE USED IN THE WAR AND PREFORMED WELL. NEVER HAVE SEEN OR HEARD A WAR STORY WHERE ONE LET SOMEONE DOWN.

Cheesy:  how do you keep yours clean?  Mine shoots so dang dirty it almost ceases being fun.  I'm thinkin' of trading mine for a new Beretta whatchamacallit in 45 or even buying one of those M48A Mausers converted to 45 acp.  Mikey.

I bought this rifle in 2000 at a discounted price since it sat on the shelf for a long time and since it was a discontinued model they decided to slash the price. Not a big seller since no one recognized it as a deer rifle, all good for me. I use Blue Dot powder in this rifle and it seems to burn clean. I scrub it with Shooters Choice bore clean and this works for me.
