Of course the AP story is missing all the important details, but staff writer Michael Zeigler, for the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, writes:
But lawyer Phillip R. Hurwitz, who represented Buckman in the criminal case and also filed the civil suit in April in state Supreme Court, said Crespo and Vega crossed the line by pursuing Buckman and attacking him.
Also, the two 'defenders' are no longer employed at the AutoZone. I bet AutoZone is the defendant in the suit, because the lawyer would have to be pretty stupid to go after two low-income ex-employees for a settlement.
I know, I know, the "kill all the lawyers" stuff gets old, but my point was about the consequences of defending yourself. That I found the link on 'overlawyered.com' was incidental.
