The reason the MRX came about was because the Triple shock X bullets inability to expand on deer size game at long ranges, due to the speed of the bullet. Unlike a soft tip bullet that will expand at lower velocities.
Barnes did not want to just install a Derlin tip to the triple shock, because the bullet would be even longer than it already was. Solid copper bullets are longer because the copper is lighter than lead. Barnes needed to bring the bullet back to original length. That is the reason for the tungsten which is almost twice as heavy as lead.

Please lets not turn this into another debate.

Redhawk1,
With all that weight in the back of the bullet does it require more twist to retain stability? I would think that it would tumble as soon as it began to open but without the design parameters I just wonder like others with only pieces of the entire picture.

I would think not. I am sure Barnes did there home work on this.

the mrx look like great bullets and i'm sure they are, ill stick the TSX, i'm still working on some reloads but they are very accurate, i'd like to try them but we'll have to wait til i get another caliber other than a .308 one cause for 308s i think ill stick with the TSX, what cals do you plan on using them for redhawk?

Well, to tell the truth I shoot a Springfield XD so it doesnt really matter.

Looking to use them in my 300 Win Mag and 7mm08.

be sure to keep us posted on the accuracy and the devestation on the animal when you shoot it compared to the previous bullets you've used for them.
