breech plug question
« on: September 01, 2006, 05:19:01 PM »
hi all i was wondering if any of you have tried the 25acp breech plug in your huntsman i was looking at them online the other nite and was wondering if they worked if they were any good. does anyone have any experience with these breech plugs, how do they shoot, how much for one,and how expensive is it for the brass to use with the 25acp breech plug, how hard is it to load the unprimed 25 acp brass,  does it burn all the powder in the barrel when you use them  how is cleaning them when you use the 25acp primers any  help would be appreciated thanks in advance

I have one on my Omega and am so impressed that I bought another one for the Huntsman that I just picked up. I am a reloader so priming the brass is not a big thing for me. You can get a hand priming tool for about $20 and depriming can be done with a small punch or a nail and a block of wood with a couple of holes drilled in it. The idea is great and handling the .25 brass is easier than handling the smaller 209 primers. The function is also great. There is more fire than a percussion cap but a lot less than a 209 primer which in most cases is too much. With the small rifle primers in the .25ACP brass there is a wide variety of power available. The brass will last a long time and the only thing is that you must clean it rather quickly after shooting or it will corrode and become useless.
