Why won't the board let me post?

"Why won't the board let me post?"  So read a PM to me, received this day.

I've had some troubles too.

From my experiences of late, it happens when there is a lot of activity on the forum or on the topic to which I'm accessing. 

I'm on dialup - 50,666 at BEST, 40k typically.

Two errors that I usually encounter - can't find server and timing out.

Not much of an answer, just observations for others to add to the rest of their experiences and observations.

Anyone with a specific problem should contact me or Matt directly for help. Generalized "why can't I post" reports with no specifics can't be answered. There might be a problem with the member's account or there might be a total ban on their ISP from the days of the hack attack and Matt will need to deal with that. It might be the server has frozen up momentarily when you try or you may just have a bad connection thru the internet to the server.

The search feature on this software is the sorriest excuse for a search feature there ever was. Use of it as most use it totally shuts down the site. That's why it's disabled until Matt can rewrite the search for this software. Stil even tho we tell folks it's disabled they continue to try and that's the single biggest problem causing you to not be able to post, they are still managing to lock up the server trying to search.

If it was me I'd remove the link to the search feature until it's fixed to totally stop folks from doing it but then it ain't me it's Matt and he don't always do things the way I would.

Bill -  Thanks for dropping in.

I did express my frustration at the time on the Moderators-Only forum. 

I tossed this out so that others in the same situation could check in and we'd gather more individual cases info.

Good recommendation to channel it directly to the folks that can fix it too!

Gent's when you get an error message, reach over to your Print Screen key and punch it.  Open a new Word Document and hold the CTRL key down and punch the letter V.  This will put your screen print in the Word Document.  Save the document for reference and notify CW or I of the problem, or contact Graybeard direct.  Be sure and let us know you save the screen print.
