Hello I am new here but wanted to tell ya'll this a great place. I used NEF /H&R shotguns since I was a boy and loved them.Recently I wanted to try the Handi-rifle but was not sure about them not know anybody that had one. Then I found Greybeard . The first thing I read was NEF/H&R talk and knew I had to have one. Being a 30-30 man I got one. As they say the rest is history. I love this rifle. Ya'll really know a lot about the handis.Like ya'll say they are addictive and now looking for a handi in 280 but don't tell the wife.

Welcome to GBO. They are just surprisingly fun rifles. And look at it this way, at least you will save money on projects that would have cost a whole lot more if you where to go a different route. It's also an excellent way to try out different calibers too. Stay around and enjoy.

My first H&R was a model 157 in 30-30 and I've had a lot of fun with it.  I often shoot reduced loads with 120 gr cast gas check bullets, about the same power level as a .357 and it is very accurate.

Congratulations on the start of your new addiction!
