Depending on what it is you are shooting; bullets in the 325-440g weight should fill you requirement with room to spare. WFN LBT's at 1050fps in that caliber will impress you with out to much noise or recoi,l and good luck finding an animal that would hold on to one of these by the way.
If your revolver sights won't adjust far enough down, a taller front sight will help them get down where you need them.
I'm with you on the bushnell, I busted 2 before I smartened up. From what I hear the ultradot is fantastic even on the .50cals
Reloading will save you a lot, a real lot, of money. A RCBS starter kit soon pays for it self when you figure the 50 dollar box of factory ammo x how many you practice with.
