F/S: Rare .58cal TC 4-N-1 Quick Shots
« on: September 10, 2006, 10:24:09 AM »
Rare .58cal TC 4-N-1 Quick Shot pocket reloaders...out of TC's catalog several years now, they're outstanding field reloaders and with the built in short starter are the most convenient pocket reloaders there are...nearly impossible to find in .58cal...$11.95 for a blisterpac of 2.

TC Quick Shots come packed 3 in a pack...no built in short starter.

These are TC "4-N-1" quick shots...have a built in short starter...used them for about 15 years in .45/.50/.54cals...best thing since sliced bread...flip the powder section open with the thumb, pour it in, turn it around and 'start' the ball.

And the .58s have been out of circulation for years...I stumbled across a little shop going out of business, he had several and I bought them all...keeping a few pairs and selling the rest.

They've apparently changed the design, Bernie's source has em, but they look a bit different, same part # tho. Available in .45, .50 and .54, they also offer a "magnum" size in the .50 cal.

No change...same design...the ones you referenced in those catalog photos are in the fully extended position ready to use.

In my blisterpac photo, they are collapsed (shorter as a result) and you can just barely see the end of the internal short starter peeking out.

When you load a patched ball or conical in the bottom end, you have to pull it down off the end of the short starter, put the patched ball inside it, then slide it back on the end of the short starter (it detents in place) ...and it can't slide all the way back up because the patched ball stops at the end of the short starter...making it look like the catalog photos

When you use one and punch the ball out of the end, you then see the end of the short starter barely sticking out of the bottom, like in my blisterpacs.

They make the 'magnum' size in all 3...45/.50/54...all mine are the magnum size...not because I use 150grns powder, but with the bigger powder resevoirs when I hold one in one hand and flip the top open with my thumb, my 100grn charge is far enough down below the top that none of it can spill put from the sudden movement.  (The .58's were discontinued before the magnum charges became popular)

I see the .54 cal now at TC, but I don't see that they offer it in a .45 cal at all. Maybe discontinued like the .58. :( Better get em whilest you can!! ;)

The regular 4-N-1's hold 100grns, the magnums hold 150grns
