Lightweight AR .308
« on: June 04, 2007, 07:36:18 AM »
I am interested in getting a lightweight .308 for deer hunting.  It will be used for doing drives and such in the thick stuff.  I figured that if I was going to go with an auto, I would make it fun and go with an AR.  The only problem is they aren't the lightest guns around.  I would like to go with either a 16" or 18" barrel with a collapsable stock.  I would like to get under 8 lbs. if possible.

Recently purchased a Armalite in 308 with a 16" barrel, have only been able to play with it very little but I love it. Very maneuverable, point-ability is great and with the adjustable stock will be just right for when deer season comes and it gets colder here in WV, which as far when you have extra clothes on for that time of year the adjustable stock is great. Haven't had any function problems but then again I'm no expert compared to others here but I'm very satisfied with this brand of rifle.
