Not sure what to think of my new Glock
« on: October 04, 2006, 12:57:02 AM »
I just got a new Glock 20 the other day, more for the cartridge than the gun, though Glock looks are growing on me.  My concern is this "not fully supported chamber" in my new pistol.  I keep finding people (online) that say you shouldn't reload Glocks and that its inherently dangerous to do so.  I shot my pistol yesterday and there was a bulge on every case right where you'd expect there to be one - where the chamber doesn't support the case.  It seems that most of the problems people have are with "hot" handloads in 10mm, which can be a problem with any cartridge.  I guess I'm asking if there's anyone else out there that's a little wary about reloading for their Glock and whether my concern is necessary.  My goal in getting a 10mm was not to load it to 40 S&W levels, I may be regretting my purchase if that's what I'm stuck with.  Any help or experience would be greatly appreciated.

Get an aftermarket barrel. The better ones have a great deal more chamber support.

With my Glock 20 I reload to the max without any problems. I have stock Glock barrel. Did not replace. No need to do so.
I've shot my glock 20 to 30 yds and put three bullets into the bulls eye no problem.

jro45,

Thanks for the reply, I'll keep watching my brass.  It's good to know others are getting full perfomance out of the 10mm.

:) The G-20 is a good pistol.  If you don't like the bulged brass contact an outfit like Storm Lake, or Lone Wolf Distributors and get a replacement barrel that will, also, allow you to shoot lead.

Here's 3 sites to consider:

http://www.lonewolfdist.com/products.asp?prod=4&curRecIdx=41

I think once you get used to that new Glock, you'll learn to enjoy shooting it.   ;)
