Small working cannons
« on: February 20, 2011, 05:46:17 PM »
Hi, I made these three cannons just recently which was a lot of fun, firing them on powder from firecrackers is a  hoot, kids really love them . . . . .

Tell us more how big are these guns?  Why are you using firecracker powder?

the two cannons have barrels about 6 inches long and the mortar barrel is 2  inches, i use firecracker powder because its easy to get but u need to experiment a bit to find which ones actually work . . .

How about some pictures of your guns with a powder can or coke can next to them so we can see their scale.

May I assume your User name reflects on your location?

;D   Kiwikev, welcome to the forum! Nice little cannons, like the shot of fire and smoke! Why not black powder? BoomLover

hi, yes im from New Zealand. I have put up a pic but could not find a can of coke for a comparison of the  size so i have placed a can of nz beer that is the same  size at a coke can,
I am at the moment trying to make some black powder, i have all the  correct ingredients and so it will be a bit of trial and error but sure to get there in the end. Anyway cheers for taking an interest.

WELCOME to the board!

You have a good eye for form (the selection of cannons) and a good eye of perspective - your ability to position the subject in the pictures!

I'd liike to see how the rodman does in the postal shoot!

Hi kiwikev,

I admire the artilley miniatures that you've made.
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.

Kiwikev,  Great cannons you made and two out of three are seacoast guns.  Way to go!!  Try blackpowder; you will love it because it generally gives off more smoke and a smoke that is more dense.  Have fun.
