It depends, are you talking about commercial ammo or mil-surplus ammo?

Myself I would choose the 8mm or the 7.62X54.  Problem with the 7.62X54 ammo is that chances are you would have to order it, a lot of places won't have it on the shelf so to speak.  The 8mm they might.  I didn't mention the 303 simply because I am just not familiar with it at all.  What I would do is if ordering ammo isn't your thing I would go to my local Walmart or gun shop and just see what they carry in stock.

I should add and there will be some that disagree with me but the rifle that you are considering in 7.62X54 is probably a Mosin Nagant.  I have 4 of them and none of them really shot that accurately for me until I started reloading for them.  All of my 8mm's have shot well though.  Just my opinion.   :)

when i got my 8mm tanker i could get ammo easy because the gun store were i got it from (now close) had ammo for every gun he sold. He would hand load ammo for guns like 8mm or 375 win.  because he know that you will have to come back there to get ammo for your guns. i use to pay 12-20 $for  a box of 20. 12$ for FMJ or SP and 20$ for HP or for 175 Gr. SPT Pro-Hunter round he hand load for me one time.

For whatever reason I couldn't get your link to work.  If you already have an 8mm it might be handy if you stayed with that caliber unless you just want to try something different.  Ever think about getting into reloading?  One of the best things that ever happened to me.   :)

Hunting ammo for all three calibers is readily available.
If your store doesn't carry it, you can mail order it from Cabelas no problem.
Aim small don't miss.

I was finally able to access the link.  Their site must have been down at the time.  The M38 is my favorite M/N for hunting use.  I just recently installed a turned down bolt and scope base on my M38.

Here are two of my last reloads for my M38.  These were shot from 60-70 yards when I had my scout mount on my M38.  Look closely at group #1.
