Williams Sight on 336C 3030

Need some advice from technical skill or experience.  I purchased a Williams WGRS-336 peep sight from MidwayUSA for my 2006 336C.  Installed it on the receiver and found from simply sighting in the basement that the stock front sight will be way too low.  Currently, with cheap Federal 150 flat nose and Hornady Leverevolution 160gr pointed bullets, I have the stock semi-buckhorn rear sight set on the next to last notch from being all the way down. 

The WGRS is quite a bit taller than the stock rear blade where I have it.  I would like to add one of NKS Precision's reticle style front sights in the stock Marlin dovetail ramp but don't know which height to buy.  NKS offers it in .425, .525, and .625.  I can eyeball measure it with a fine ruler but that is as precise as I have tools or skills for.

Anyone install one of these on a newer 336C 3030?  Anyone know what the stock front bead height is above the dovetail?

I just put a Williams FP-336TK receiver site on my 1895CB. I took the buckhorn site off to resolve the issue. The  problem I noticed today when trying to site it in at the range is the stock front bead covers the entire box!

        I put the Williams WGRS 336 sight on my 1975 Marlin 336 in 30-30. I replaced the front sight with one .510" and the WGRS  is adjusted to the lower part of it's range. The .525" should work on my rifle but YMMV. You WILL like the way it shoots!

Thanks guys.  I went home and sweated over a stainless steel ruler with 1/32" markings.  Best I came up with was the WGRS is 4/32" taller than the semi-buckhorn at the lowest setting on the WGRS.  I'm going to think out loud here so you can correct me if necessary.  That means the WGRS is 1/8" taller (0.125").  If I add just that amount to my stock front bead I just get into the adjustment range.  So, I opted for the .525" front bead to give me another 1/8" of height.  Not too tall on the end of the barrel, and I can leave myself some adjustment up and down the scale on the rear sight.

I sprang for one of NKS Precision's crosshair sights, the duplex one.  Midway USA had them for $26 and change.  Looks pretty trick and the small wires should help my eyes at longer distances where the bead hides the target circle.  I like the usefulness of crosshairs, but hate how scopes give you tunnel vision and how they look on a levergun.  Besides, if you shoot something too far away it makes for a long walk.

I should get it all switched over after our first deer season is over on Nov 23.  That gives me two weeks before the anterless only season reopens in mid-Dec.  I'll keep you posted.

I'm a happy boy.  Put my WGRS with a new twilight .093 peep on it.  Ordered and received a crosshair sight from KSN Precision, put it on, bore sighted it and headed for the range.  You just can't imagine what the front crosshair sight does for your sight picture.  Now I can see the target circle and split it in four pie pieces very easily.  I laid all three Leverevolution rounds right on the horizontal target line just to the right of bull (I tend to pull right a bit).  Used to be the whole target circle was hidden by the front bead.  Now it feels like I am looking through a tiny scope with no magnification.  PERFECT!!!

Every open sight shooter should have this.  www.knsprecisioninc.com  Look at the Ruger 10/22 page.  It is a standard 3/8" dovetail but a little wide for the stock Marlin ramp.  The dovetail part is fine, just the flanged base above the dovetail is a bit wide.

It's going to be hard to slap the smile off my face for quite a while.
