can you put a rifle barrel on a encore pistol frame???

Hi!!!!
I have been a reader of your form for sometime but this is my first post... I got a good deal on a Encore pistol frame but I have no barrels for the Encore.. My 17 pistol barrels I have are for the old style condender... could i put a encore rifle barrel on this frame, if i can what stock and forearm change will be needed??? I read on the Midway USA site that it is against the law to put pistol parts on a frame bought as a rifle.... The Encore is new to me as you can tell... Thank you for your help... Bill

yes you can put a rifle, shotgun and muzzle loader barrel on a pistol frame,  But you can not put a pistol barrel on a rifle frame it would be making a short barreled rifle.

The encore and contender barrels will not interchange.

with the encore you will need a  special forend for the rifle, shotgun and muzzle loader barrel.  most pistol barrels use the same forend.

Thank you for your reply rickyp.. I was looking at Midwayusa and seen the pro hunter stock and forearm set.. would that work on a heavy barrel? I mostly hunt groundhogs so the caliber will be a heavy barrel under 30 cal. now to pick one... thanks again Bill

If you get a pro hunter barrel I think but not sure that you will need a pro hunter forend. I have yet to see a pro hunter barrel to compare it to the other barrels.

Well if you buy a used frame at a gunshow, and you don't have to re-register it, how are you supposed to know if it is registered as a istol or rifle, and can you re-register it as a rifle   I don't hink that a game warden is going to stop you in the field and call in the serial # and see if the frame is registered as a rifle or pistol,  BUT YOU NEVER KNOW DO YOU!!!!!

HOW CAN YOU GO ABOUT DOING THIS (REREGISTERING A RIFLE FRAME AS A PISTOL)  IS IT LEGAL TO DO THIS???

T/C can tell you how the frame began it's life at the factory if you give them a S/N.  As for turning a rifle frame into a pistol, it can be done with much governmental paperwork and a generous amount of governmental lubrication ($$$...something to the tune of $200).  You or anyone else would be far ahead just buying a new pistol frame.

I recently purchased a 15 in prohunter barrel in 7mm-08.  I installed my origianl pistol forend with no problem at all -- a perfect fit.  The forend I am using came with a barrel I purchased before the prohunter barrels were available.  I don't know if the same is true for rifle barrels.
