Velocity change between pistol and carbine?

I'm loading 240gr lead SWC in 44 Mag and 44 Special for my new 1894 Marlin.
Currently loading 7gr. of Unique and a WLP primer behind a Lee 240 gr SWC. 12gr of Unique in the 44 Mag.
I'm wondering how much velocity I'm gaining shooting from a carbine instead of my pistol?
Does anyone have a pet load that works well in their marlin?

I can't answer your question about your 44, but I load two different loads in 45 Colt, both with the same 255 grain bullet.  My plinker load makes 680 f/s from my 7.5" Black Hawk and 820 f/s from my 16.5" Trapper.  My hunting load gives me 1193 f/s out of the pistol and 1525 f/s from the carbine.

as castaway said 300 fps is a good ballpark guess.
