They have maple stocks and the engraving is on the receiver. Check Remington's site, go to ceterfire rifles, and "special runs".

I had just sent Grice an email a few days ago asking about the 2006 Special runs.  Here is what they had to say.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Currently the only special runs we will be having are 7600 walnut
stock, 30-06 in both the rifle and carbine version.  We are trying to work
another special but do not know if Remington will make them.  Thank you
again for contacting us.

Sure would be nice if they made a special run of left hand rifles.

I have sent 5-6 emails and called three times and got no reply. i asked for a 358 Winchester that several here said they would buy. I guees that is not happening.

On another note I did not buy one of the maple stock guns last year. I would like one in 6mm Remington but Grices is out. I have checked gunsamerica.com, gunbroker ect and not found one. If anyone knows of one please let me know. Thanks, MIKE.

Here is a follow up note to/from Grice

(18.5") version.  Will these have better wood? engraved receiver? what?
Also when do you plan to release them?

and depending on what you are offering, it may very well be worth
waiting for.

The both the rifle and carbine stocks will be engraved with a 30-06
commemorative logo.  We do not know when they will be finished nor what
the price will be at this time.  Thank you.

Guys according to remington there are no special run 7600's for 2006 . all they have for special runs this year are the 11-87 shotgun and the model 710 rifle

I havn't heard anything, but I have a theory.  Actually, it's more of a hunch / hope.  When they replaced the 740 with the 7400 semi-auto rifle, that next year, they came out with the 7600 to replace the 760.  At the end of last year / first of this year, they came out with the 750.  It is my guess/hope, that they (remington) do not want to waste production time / space coming out with a limited run of the 7600 because they plan on coming out with a new replacement for the 7600.  Maybe called the 770 ?  Now, I have no inside knowledge, no hints of rumors, this is pure speculation and hope on my part - so take it for what it is worth.  If I'm wrong - it wouldn't be the first time, and most definitely won't be the last.  But if I'm right.......then it just goes to show that I spend too much time day dreaming.   ;D
