Is there a difference between the Remington model 7 action and a model 700 short action?? if so what or how much is the difference??

Yup it's shorter by almost 1/2". Older ones only have three screw holes to mount scopes, the newer ones have four so a two piece base can be used. On the older ones you must use a one piece base.

Not to mention the rear guard screw on a Model 7 is a whole lot smaller than the one on a model 700.

Dang, after telling a friend that the model 7 in 7-08 was the greatest thing since bottled beer and getting them all pumped up to buy one, I found out we needed a lefty and Model 7's don't seem to come in leftie.
