Military surplus cannon bbls
« on: August 27, 2006, 08:27:10 PM »
I would like to locate a surplus rifled cannon bbl but so far have not had much luck. Old western scrounger's web site keeps coming up as not being able to find and cdss has either not received or ignored any e-mails that I have sent. Big sky surplus bbls look to be really rusty and for the money that they ask leave a lot to be desired. Was lookin at a 40mm bofors gun bbl that had be demilled and was covered in rust. Any suggestions and or sources? All would be welcome. Thanks, Frank

Frank;

I have posted at least one link to surplus bbl's. The BIG problem is the twist rate, way too fast.

The twist on the 40mm's is around 1- 60". Just fine for what we are doing.

What does it matter if the outside is rusty as long as the inside is not.  You are going to machine the out side.
